Journey Teen Therapy Group

Teenagers often feel alone and like no one understands them. They need someone to talk to and may be reluctant to open up to family members about their concerns.

MaineStay’s teen therapy group gives teens a safe place to speak openly about their lives and work through commons concerns often encountered on the journey to adulthood. We focus on practical and effective skills shown to reduce anxiety, depression, and negative self-talk and increase positive behaviors and achievement.

Discussion Topics Include:

  • Mindfulness
  • Problem-Solving
  • Emotional Regulation
  • Stress Management
  • Building a Supportive Environment
  • Relaxation
  • Coping Skills
  • Resilience
  • Cognitive Distortions
  • Positive Thinking
  • Self-Esteem
  • Communication Styles
  • Gratitude
  • Healthy Versus Unhealthy Relationships
  • Anger Management
  • Empowerment
  • Goal-setting

The group is held every 2nd and 4th Monday of each month from 5-6 PM during the school year, and participants are welcome to attend as many sessions as they would like.

The group is open to all high school students who attend school in Maine Township. There is no cost to attend, but pre-registration is required. We meet at the Maine Township Town Hall.
