Community Service

communityserviceMaineTRAC (Maine Township Restitution for Adolescent Change) is a restorative justice program for youth between the ages of 12-17 who have committed minor nonviolent offenses. This program aims to reduce juvenile delinquency by keeping first-time offenders out of the juvenile justice system and by requiring those offenders to increase personal responsibility by providing restitution for their offense. Local police, school resource officers, courts, and probation departments typically make referrals. MaineTRAC arranges community service for first-time offenders at local community-based organizations.

MaineTRAC also works with the police departments of Des Plaines and Park Ridge in providing the community service placements for the Peer Jury Partnership. The Maine Township community benefits from MaineTRAC through increased volunteer service, lower crime rates, and more responsible young people.
