YAM Squad: Youth Anger Management Group

This ten-week anger management skills training group is an instructional group that helps children learn effective ways to deal with anger. The skills training and practice exercises taught in this group will assist participants in the following:

  • Identifying and understanding feelings of anger
  • Recognizing triggers that lead to intense feelings of anger and frustration
  • Controlling and managing the source of the anger
  • Developing plans using effective coping tools to handle anger in a constructive way
Through using a variety of evidence-based approaches, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy, participants will gain the power to improve their reactions when experiencing anger. During the group, participants will learn skills through fun activities and role-play scenarios. The skills learned in this group can be applied in multiple contexts, including home and school.

The group is open to children in grades 3-5 or grades 6-9, depending on the session. The fee for the entire ten-week group is only $40 for residents and $120 for non-residents (space permitting) and includes all materials.

The next session for grades 3-5 will meet from 6-6:50 pm on Tuesdays at the Maine Township Town Hall from 3/5/24-5/14/24 (no group on 3/26/24). A session for grades 6-9 will be offered in fall 2024. There are only 10 spots available in this group.
