Maine Township is shining a spotlight on Hunger and Homelessness Awareness as part of National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week.

Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week was founded in 1975 at Villanova University and is an annual program where people come together across the country to draw attention to the problems of hunger and homelessness.

This special timing on the calendar is meant to draw attention and awareness to those less fortunate during the giving season. Participating groups spend the week holding a series of educational, service, fundraising, and advocacy events. Hundreds of thousands of participants come together to donate millions of dollars for local service providers.

Maine Township proudly recognizes and supports the efforts of such organizations like the Catholic Charities, The Alliance to End Homelessness and other charitable organizations in the Township in working toward a world without hunger and homelessness.

In Maine Township, we are proud to partner with many community organizations to provide food and resources to many people through our new and improved Township food pantry! The pantry serves as a reliable outlet for those deeply in need within our communities.

The Township food pantry during normal business hours of 9-5 pm Monday through Friday at the Maine Township Town Hall, 1700 Ballard Rd., Park Ridge. You may also mail donations to that address.
