Township Seeks to Demonstrate the Value of Strategic Partnerships
After months of research and discussions between the Maine Township Food Pantry and the Greater Chicago Food Depository (GCFD), it appears that a partnership between the two will be possible. Such a partnership will bring more food at a lower cost to the Township Pantry. In order to finalize this partnership, the GCFD requires the Township to create a 501(c)(3) entity. At its last meeting, the board voted unanimously to create a 501(c)(3) and enter into an agreement with the GCFD. Upon doing so, the Township Pantry will be able to apply for critical grants and solicit a wider pool of donations to serve its mission.
During last month’s meeting Clerk Pete Gialamas presented an Electronic License Services Agreement for the Township to enter into in order to administer an IL Secretary of State (SOS)-sanctioned License Plate Sticker Program. Clerk Gialamas stressed that this program will provide residents a cheaper and more convenient alternative than the DMV, emissions facilities or Currency Exchanges and bring more awareness of the Township. Under the agreement, Maine Township would charge $7.00 per license sticker. Of that $7.00, $1.65 will go to the vendor and the Township will receive $5.35. The board unanimously approved this agreement and authorized Clerk Gialamas to continue to the next phase of its implementation.
Keep an eye out for these and other developments every month at the monthly Township Board Meeting! The following is the schedule of the next regular board meetings held at 7:00 pm at the Maine Township Town Hall, 1700 Ballard Road in Park Ridge
